When using an author/year style such as APA 6th, you must also include the page number inside of the in-text citation along with the author and year.Different citation styles require direct quotes to be cited differently. One such example for when you might need to edit an in-text citation is direct quotes.
#Endnote citations full
Note: This editing changes individual in-text citations, not the full citation in the bibliography. Most of the time the standard in-text citation is enough to provide within your document to cite your reference, but there are specific occasions when a more detailed citation is required. Please contact the PSU library if you need any assistance. There are two types of citations in a Word document, the bibliography at the end of the document with the full citation, and the in-text citation that appears at the point where the reference is directly cited, which is a notation (usually the bibliography number or the author name/year) to identify which full citation in the bibliography it is referring to.

You may need to take some extra steps to configure EndNote to search only PSU's library databases. Use the desktop application to a few databases and library catalogs, and then select citations from the search results. The image below shows what it looks like to capture a citation using the EndNote extension in Firefox to capture a citation.įinally, you can save citations to EndNote by using the search feature within the desktop application. Once you fill in the citation information, it is saved to your EndNote Basic account. You will generally need to fill in the citation information yourself, as the extension can be unreliable at automatically filling in citation information. If you use only EndNote Basic (and not the full version), the Firefox extension is the only way you can capture citations. It may be slightly different in each database, but the steps and interface will be similar.ĮndNote also has a Firefox browser extension that lets you capture citations from the web. Each database has a slightly different interface, and sometimes the option to export a citation to EndNote can be listed under a different term, such as "Save" or "Export." You can export research articles from the web, Microsoft Office, and PSU's research databases. There are several ways to import citations to EndNote.
